Garynoles says:

My problem with not being able to use a “preheater” for my water is that my water? heater is in an unheated basement storage room.

immrnoidall says:

for even better? results, take the insulation off the “tempering tank” & incondesant bulbs produce a lot of heat for the extra money paid for while used.some say its ok to use them in the winter months. people actualy use them for heat in chicken coups .remember the eazy bake oven.all it was,was a light bulb in a box.

Pa?ca Alexandru says:

And.. I’m not a plumber? neither. ;)

Pa?ca Alexandru says:

Water comes by it’s own pressure. The water mains are pressurized wherever there is water available `at the tap` ;) )
Ant, yes, it’s a tank with a coiled pipe inside that gathers heat from the environment.
Straight from the pipe, water comes pretty cold, just as cold as the ground it passes thru inside the pipes. The ‘pre-heater’ helps that water to gain a few degrees, lessening the load on the real heater. ?

Pa?ca Alexandru says:

HAHA! I use the shredder!? :D

adamu1978 says:

If the blades spin in the direction of their lowest side (closer to you when you are standing underneath or infront, or the ground) then they are taking up air away from you and towards the ceiling–that’s the winter setting. If the blades spin in the direction of their highest side, they are pushing wind towards you, or away from the ceiling–that’s the summer setting. Disclaimer: I was stoned when I wrote? this, so no guarantee for the accuracy of this information. Good luck!

Anygma says:

i don’t like CFL. my husband put them in places where we need light but we don’t spend a lot of time. we managed to find some really nice LED lights, shaped like an incandescent and for 8 watts each, they are some bright. i think they’re as bright as a? 100 watt incandescent. they are more expensive but they last very long time. we’re in process of switching the house over to them one package every paycheck.

jeffmolly1 says:

You disconnect the cold? water from your existing water heater then put it into your preheater cold inlet. Then you go from the preheater hot out to the cold in on your main water heater.

wildfire2020 says:

I have the same question as below: How does the water get from? the pre-heater to the real water heater? I didn’t see any explanation in the video or an answer here on YouTube. Please advise. Thanks!

wildfire2020 says:

Hi Jeff – I can never tell which way my ceiling fan is going, so it’s hard to make the correct changes with the season. Can you describe, in clockwise or counterclockwise, how it should be set in the winter vs summer? (Assuming the direction is determined by looking “up” at the fan, rather than if you were the at the ceiling looking down.) This would help a lot, as it always? feels the same to me: I feel the air coming down on me, rather than it ever pulling air “up”. Thanks!

sterlingholobyte says:

If you don’t hook up electricity to the “pre-heater”, how does the water get to your regular water heater? Doesn’t the pre-heater have to be “on” or something? Otherwise it is just tank with water sitting in it.
(I am not a plumber, can you tell?)? :)

ElectricSaver1200 says:

Great share.
Thank you for this electric? saving ideas.

jeffmolly1 says:

From what i know there are cfl’s for outdoor use and indoor use. You cannot use the indoor bulbs for outside, they burn out quick. The other thing i found out is when you turn on a cfl you are suppose to leave it on for 5 to 15 minutes or it shortens the life. In my closet? i use a regular incandesent bulb.

Blind Freddy says:

Yeah but you are not going to save $40 if the $3 CFL burns out after a few months and that is happening a LOT to me and others from what I? am hearing and reading. Let’s say you save 40w. Run the Light for 3 hours a day and it burns out after 9 months. 120wH= 1.5 cents a day. *270 days = ~$4

What do you think about hot water on demand water heaters. Are they worth the? money in the long run? Thanks

jackrblade says:

Kind of like saying “why wipe your ass, it’s going to get dirty again?” Any bit of money I can deny the energy? monopoly is a plus!

cjellwood says:

Apparently killing people lowers utility bills. Less demand?

Jeff, I don’t know how the SOBs sleep at night, must be booze knocking them out. Karma will bite them? in the end and bite them hard, seen it to many times. You have some REAL friends who really care and I am proud to be among those, call me any time you are number 1 in my book forever.

jeffmolly1 says:

So what you are? saying is don’t try, give up and take it in the ass. No can do….
They can be defeated, were Americans man.

datzfast says:

any nation wide savings in electric will sooner than latter be off set by an increase in taxes, computers tally eveything up,? everything. you are never going to be allowed to win.

Igotmykiki says:

Tips :
1. Use daylight for light source during the day
2. At 6 use large appliances like dish washers, dryers and washers
3. don’t turn off and put? on the same appliances over and over lke the TV and the radio your bill goes higher by doing that
4.Use energy saving light bulbs
5. During the summer time do not use a dryer hang your clothes in your backyard
6. Don’t use more than once a week a clothing iron, or hair appliances lke blowdryers, flat irons, and hooded dryers

jeffmolly1 says:

The energy savings that you get from cfl’s far outweigh the cost of? replacing them. Even if incandescent bulbs were free it makes no sense to use them. Spending 2 or 3 dollars on a cfl light bulb isn’t bad considering how much lower your electric bill will be. Example, you spent $3.00 to save $40.00, how could that be a bad thing.
Jeff

val058 says:

GE and Philips CFL’s have BOTH burned out way before the trusty old .40 cent regular bulbs. I? have old bulbs still going after 6 years but some cfl’s only made it 9 months. Quality control or what but it’s crap for now until they make them consistently better.

Thanks for taking the time to put this together. With our economy in the toilet everyone could use a little help saving some of that hard? to come by cash, and the added benefit of conserving our energy resources is another plus as well. Well done.

lifeisgood070 says:

Yah I was just officially recommended a solar powered fan because our attic gets to 150F on a 96F day. I’m told attic’s should not be much above 125F on 95F days if they are properly vented. But a word of caution, you have to be careful especially with condensation in the winter time which would increase with force? convection (fan) vs. natural convection. We are trying to figure out if we can add more or better venting. Looks like we’ll go for more blown insulation also.

Mikey8567 says:

Yea I’ve put in both electric and solar? powered attic fans. They are great for keeping the temp down in the attic. Like I said by keeping your attic cooler in the summer will make your a/c (cooling) system work less. Usually the a/c unit is outside the house and the air handler (Heating strips, air circulating fan and controls) are mounted in the attic of most homes. So keeping it cooler in attic makes that unit more efficient and not work so hard. Saves $ on the electric bill!

Philip614 says:

Everyone forget about this whole series, I found an even easier method to cut your electric bill in half. This can be done for less than One Dollar.
1. Reach in your drawer, and find a pair of scissors.
2. After you found your scissors, visit your local Dollar store. Find an envelope opener.
3. Wait at least 21 business days for your electric bill to arrive.
4. Cut open the envelope with the opener.
5. Remove the enclosed electric bill. Find the? middle of the page, and cut the bill in half wit

Kevin Colt says:

or just be rich and forget about all? this.

Ken Seehart says:

Ha ha, dang I was just about to make a video? of me snipping my electric bill in half, but you got to it first!

… once you’ve notified the con artists, you can then send a takedown notification to their provider, or pursue further legal action if you? feel their gain or your loss is great enough to justify further litigation.

PhilLesh69 says:

You definitely can, and should, do something about those con artists stealing and using your? videos. Especially since your name, reputation, likeness, and PERSON is being used by someone else for their gain and could be diminishing the value and good will for you.

Pay a lawyer a few hundred bucks to wirte up and send a cease and desist order. Once they have been notified, you have legal record of their knowledge and continued infringement. Most people just stop after that, anyway.
